“I have participated in a lot of workshops on communication and emotions, and Vanessa’s workshop was hands down one of the best, especially for being only 3 hours long. The questions, handouts, and worksheets did an excellent job of connecting me with my feelings and needs about a situation that has been bothering me in my relationship with my dad. Even though my prior experience learning nonviolent communication led me to believe that “I already know this stuff,” I also knew that I was having a hard time practicing it with my dad, and Vanessa’s workshop was a great reminder of the importance of following the steps! “NVC (nonviolent communication) seemed like such bullshit to me until Vanessa’s workshop. What a breath of fresh air Vanessa is! Swear, be animated, get angry. The steps Vanessa presented are concrete and tangible. I found (and find) them useful. In most workshops, participants are presented with theory, do some feel-good exercises, and go home without new tools. I finally got permission to be myself.
